“Gaka yawal Ngulla -Yenbena Yorta Yorta Woka”
Come walk with us, the people on Yorta Yorta Country

"We are the river, the river is us."

Our connection to the Dhungala (Murray River) is the lifeblood of our culture and sovereignty.

Who We Are

The formal structure of representation for Yorta Yorta rights and interest in our ancestral lands has been an evolving process. It grew from the Tribal Council which evolved into the Yorta Yorta Murray-Goulburn Clans Inc in 1993 which lobbied the Government for land, for the management and protection of cultural heritage including water and environmental issues. In 1998 the Yorta Yorta Murray-Goulburn Clans was superseded by the Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation which carries forward the holistic approach to dealing with matters relating to Yorta Yorta interest in land, heritage, water, environmental and cross border issues as well as regional governance for our people
